What is CBD, Cannabis, Marijuana and THC
CBD - full name Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are compounds found in the cannabis plant, there are over 100's of cannabinoids. CBD is the 2nd most prevalent cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant.
Cannabis refers to all plants from the Cannabis Sativa family. Marijuana and Cannabis are often used interchangeably however this is incorrect as Marijuana is only a type of plant from the Cannabis family.
Marijuana refers to only some of the types of cannabis plants that have high concentrations of THC - over 0.3%.
THC is another cannabinoid found in some cannabis plants. THC is responsible for the psychoactive effect that causes people to feel "high".
Hemp refers to plants that have less than 0.3% THC. According to a report from the World Health Organization, "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of CBD."
